FAQ

What is a social good company?

A social good company is essentially a for-profit company that has some component of giving back as part of its mission.  This can come in many forms.  Here are some of the most common:

  • One for One
  • Fair Trade
  • Portion of profit goes to support causes
  • Donations made based on purchases
  • Employment / job training for under-served populations
  • Upcycling to create new products

Why buy from social good companies?

I try to buy from social good and socially conscious companies.  We all can’t quit our jobs to go save the world in dramatic fashion.  But, I do believe that we can impact change with how and where we spend our money.  If a portion of the amount we spend can go towards feeding a child, providing clean water, or providing a fair wage job to a woman in poverty, then why not?  We are going to spend the money anyway, so why not spend it with companies that give back in some way.

Did you buy these products yourself?

For the most part, yes.  I want my reviews to be fair and honest.  If I ever do review a product that I did not pay for, I will make that explicitly clear.
